Heart: Stroke
A stroke occurs when the blood supply to a part of the brain is cut off and the brain cells in that part cannot function. If the blood supply is cut off only for a very short time in a small part of the brain, the effects will be mild and temporary. If the blood supply is cut off for a long period in a large part of the brain, the effects will be more severe and longer lasting. In a few cases, a stroke can result in death.
