Keeping your Wireless network safe
Some tips to keep your wireless network safe and to prevent intrusion
1.Change your router's Default settings
1.1) Change default Username's name and the "blank" password
1.2) Change the SSID ( Service Set IDentifier)
Most routers have the default settings for username and Password ( eg : Admin and blank password).
The SSID or network-id or Network Name is usually corresponding to the Router Manufacturer.
Such as "LinkSys" for LinkSys router or "dlink" for Dlink Router
If these are remain unchanged, anyone can access your wifi-network.
Once changed, you need not to worry about someone hijacking your router and making modifying the setttings.
2. Setup encryption
Using encryption to secure your wireless connectivity. This means your data will be encrypted as a measure of protection.
The strongest encryption now is WPA2(Wireless Protection Access 2). WEP encryption being less secured but it is better than no encryption at all.
