| Some tips to keep your wireless network safe and to prevent
intrusion |
1.Change your router's Default settings
1.1) Change default Username's name and the "blank" password
1.2) Change the SSID ( Service Set IDentifier)
|
Most routers have the default settings for username and Password ( eg : Admin
and blank password).
The SSID or network-id or Network Name is usually corresponding to the Router
Manufacturer.
Such as "LinkSys" for LinkSys router or "dlink" for Dlink Router
If these are remain unchanged, anyone can access your wifi-network.

Once changed,you need not to worry about someone hijacking your router and
making modifying the setttings.

2. Setup encryption |
Using encryption to secure your wireless connectivity. This means your data
will be encrypted as a measure of protection.
The strongest encryption now is WPA2(Wireless Protection Access 2). WEP
encryption being less secured but it is better than no encryption at all.
